Founder / Creative DirectorJohn’s reputation for design excellence is built upon 25 years of industry experience in Europe and Australia working with some of the world’s biggest brands. John specialises in logo design and brand development, eschewing trends to create unique visual identities and typographic elements that express the distinctive qualities of each brand he works with. With his strengths in brand architecture and visual storytelling, John is known for helping businesses grow, thrive and connect with their audiences. In fact, that was why he started Lovehate Design+Brand in the late 90s. Without a middleman between him and his clients, John could finally dig deeper and take the time to learn more about each brand. Unearthing and defining their ‘why’ is how John is able to help brands better tell their stories. In his spare time, John listens to design podcasts, practices yoga and composes post-rock music.

Copywriter / Brand StrategistLeith is an award-winning writer whose pieces are widely published. Her brand strategy work has brought growth and success to many Australian brands. She understands the strength of storytelling in a world of ever-increasing competition and uses it artfully to help her clients cut through the noise to attract and engage with their customers. Leith’s naming projects include a vast range of companies and their products, major parks, shopping precincts and clothing brands. Her work appears in print, on the air, etched into park footpaths, on tall buildings and billboards, on t-shirts, websites, and more. A writer at heart with a way with words and degrees in psychology and writing, she ensures every project comes back to authentic, human communication. She’s known for her insights and strategic thinking, guiding her clients and their brands to success. In her spare time, Leith writes poetry and short fiction and sketches with her favourite 2B pencil.

Web DeveloperMark is our technology guru. His work is the backbone of all our digital projects, making all our user-friendly websites and eDMs run seamlessly. He brings 20 plus years of deep technical expertise in web development to our studio. From adding a single functionality to an existing website to building coded-from-scratch fully custom websites, Mark helps our clients show their business’ best side in the digital environment. His attention to detail is impressive and his trouble-shooting skills are second to none. In his spare time, Mark collects guitars and occasionally plays them very well: in the 90s, he was the lead guitarist in the Britpop band Lancaster.

Graphic Designer / IllustratorToby is a collaborative and passionate designer: a big picture thinker and “fixer” who believes in finding the right solution that meets everyone’s needs. He is valued by his clients for his great communication skills and his drive to empower them to manage their own brands – which is why Toby was chosen to develop and maintain Fender Australia’s family of brands for more than 10 years. Across Toby’s 20 years of experience in corporate marketing, desktop publishing and diverse freelance gigs, he’s grown into a master of publication and identity design (and a nifty illustrator as well!). Toby is chilled and friendly and is a true creative in everything he does, on and off the clock. In his spare time, he plays guitar in the rock and blues band Southwall, surfs and restores vintage bicycles.

PhotographerAgi is an award-winning photographer whose work has been published in Australian magazines and featured in numerous exhibits, including at the prestigious Brisbane Museum. She has an exceptional talent for portraiture, with a unique process that brings out the personality of her subjects. Agi takes stunning headshots and other photography for our clients’ websites and collateral (and this website, too!) that truly capture and express each business’ brand values. In her spare time, Agi seeks inspiration deep in nature by going remote camping, grounding herself in both peaceful stillness and challenging mountain climbs.
